Most of the time we don’t even make it past the first page we click on before deciding to try something else. This is called a bounce rate, and it can be detrimental for marketers.

A bounce rate is used in web traffic analysis. It represents the percentage of visitors who enter the site and then leave rather than continuing on to view other pages within the same site. The higher your bounce rate, the lower your audience retention is.

Multiple landing pages encourage readers to engage with the platform and go deeper into what it is that makes your brand unique. This includes having blogs or educational, entertaining content so that the reader does not assume any further reading will just lead to a sales pitch.

Kissmetric’s blog states that, according to surveys done by Akamai and, nearly half of web users expect a site to load in 2 seconds or less, and they tend to abandon a site that doesn’t load within 3 seconds.

So how do we pick up the pace of our websites?

  •  Use little or no self-loading media content
  • Set external links to open in new browser windows or tabs
  • Place ads strategically so that they are not interrupting the visitor’s experience
  • Optimize your images
