Torchliters are digital marketing experts who deliver high-quality work to our customers. Marketing is their passion and their livelihood. So yeah, they’re pretty darn good at what they do.
Today we sat down with content marketer Sara Richmond to learn more about her life as a freelance marketer and mother of two.
Tell us about your role as a Torchliter.
I focus on strategy and content marketing. For Torchlite clients, I’ve worked on case studies, infographics, blog posts, and LinkedIn. I really enjoy getting to know the client’s business and developing content that shares their value with their target audience. Right now, I’m partnering with three Torchlite clients.
What do you like to do in your free time?
My husband and I have two boys (3 and 7), and they keep us pretty active! We also enjoy working on home improvement projects. Last fall, we moved into a new house, and we’ve been remodeling constantly since then. The kitchen is almost done!!
Where do you live and what’s your favorite part about your hometown?
I live just outside Ann Arbor, Michigan (Go Blue!). It’s a fun, diverse college town with lots of things to do and AMAZING restaurants.
What was the last trip you took?
We went to south Florida where my brother and his family live. It was nice to see the sun!
What was the last book you read?
I have a bit of a book problem – both fiction and nonfiction! My Kindle app sees a lot of action. I just finished “Give and Take” by Adam Grant.
If you could have dinner with anyone (alive or dead) who would it be and why?
My first picks for dinner dates are always my boys.
What’s one interesting fact about you that most people don’t know?
I used to play the cello, piano, and hammered dulcimer.
How did you get into freelancing?
Freelancing was attractive to me because I could carve out a role doing work that I enjoy. I also love how you are always learning something new as a freelancer!
What does your typical day look like?
I’m a list-maker, so I always start out by reviewing my To Do list and my calendar. I usually have a couple client calls sometime during the day. In between those, I map out chunks of time to do some writing or make the rounds on my clients’ social media accounts. I’ve been trying to get better about also fitting in time to exercise… but that doesn’t always happen.
How do you stay up-to-date on the latest digital marketing trends?
I follow a handful of marketing blogs, but I also run across articles and news while working in social media. I also depend on my professional networking groups, which are a great source for learning, too.
What’s your favorite part about working with Torchlite?
Who doesn’t love working with talented, customer-focused people? The team is great and everyone is very collaborative! I’ve also enjoyed getting to know the clients and their businesses.
Thanks, Sara – we love working with you, too!
